About This Place

Saigon One Restaurant, located in the heart of Dorchester, MA, offers an enticing culinary journey through Vietnamese, Cantonese, and broader Chinese flavors with an emphasis on authentic seafood and vibrant family-style dishes. This cozy, inviting spot has quickly become a favored destination for those craving freshly prepared, richly flavored meals that deliver both comfort and excitement to the palate.

Step inside and you’re greeted by a welcoming ambiance complemented by friendly staff who immediately set the tone with a refreshing iced tea upon seating. Though the dining space is limited—largely favoring takeout—the warm, bustling atmosphere radiates authenticity and a passion for food that’s unmistakable.

Saigon One’s menu is a treasure trove of sensational dishes that cater to both adventurous food lovers and those seeking familiar comforts with a twist. Signature offerings like the Hot Pot invite diners to savor a medley of fresh ingredients simmering in rich broths, while the Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings crackle with a mouthwatering blend of spices and crispiness. For seafood aficionados, the Soft Shell Crab and the Caramel Baked Cat Fish in a Clay Pot stand out as intensely flavorful dishes that marry tender textures with deep caramelized notes.

The menu also includes delightful Vietnamese specialties such as Hue Beef Noodle Soup and the uniquely textured Udon Crab Noodle Soup featuring translucent tapioca noodles and a special crab-infused broth, serving a craving for bold, satisfying soups. Rice and noodle enthusiasts won’t want to miss the Seafood Fried Rice, Shrimp Lo Mein Extra Spicy, or the crispy versions of stir-fried yellow noodles brimming with shrimp or seafood, which balance textures beautifully.

Saigon One shines in its family-style offerings as well, with dishes like Caramelized Sliced Pork and Caramelized Pork Spareribs paired thoughtfully with fragrant white rice, showcasing the kitchen’s knack for layering flavors that are both tender and indulgently savory. The Hot Sweet and Sour Shrimp Soup adds a tantalizing spicy twist to the meal, solidifying Saigon One as a hub for vibrant, well-executed Vietnamese cuisine.

Patrons consistently praise the quality and generous portions. Nicholas Nguyen highlights the moist, crispy perfection of the salt-toasted pork chop plate, while Ellen appreciates the diversity and fair pricing of the offerings. Although some, like Diana Davenport, mention minor inconsistencies such as the rice texture, the overall impression affirms great service and satisfying dishes that keep guests coming back. Even with limited parking and seating, food lovers agree that the combination of fresh, authentic tastes and welcoming service more than makes up for it.

Whether you’re dropping in for a quick takeout meal, craving a hearty hot pot feast, or exploring classic southern Vietnamese flavors, Saigon One Restaurant delivers a genuine experience crafted with heart and expertise in Dorchester’s vibrant culinary scene.

Good food for a fair price. The rice was a bit dry. Good service. Had the spring rolls, fish soup, caramelized fish and orange chicken.

Everything I've ordered here so far has been spot on! This is a relatively new (at least in the last 10 years since I've come back to Dorchester) vietnamese restaurant. The staff are always really friendly and offer iced tea right when you get in and sit down. I ordered the salt toasted pork chop plate which was huge. The pork chops are super moist and crispy when you take a bite and the portion size is huge. The grilled chicken with rice reminded me of my childhood. The chicken was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. Their salt toasted squid and soft shell crabs are great if you love seafood and calamari style dishes. Just be aware that they can be a bit spicy, so make sure you let them know if you want it mild. Adding pork chops to that dish will run you an extra $6, but it's a huge plate. I also loved their spring rolls and garlic snow pea leaves. They absolutely love up to any Chinese restaurant in quality and flavor. Their fried tofu and fixed vegetables are also solid dishes if you're going vegetarian. Overall some dishes can be a little pricey if you custard customizing dishes, but the portion sizes definitely make up for it.

Yes, the food is very good, very, very delicious, if you like Vietnamese food, this is your place, but parking is a little complicated, it is located on Dorchester in Dorche, there is not much parking, but you can find it if you drive around. And they only have two tables in the place, almost everything is takeout orders and food in view like a buffet and comfortable for your wallet.
